Historic storefront cleanout without choking the alley
We rolled into the original townsite on a cool morning and found a narrow service lane behind a pre-1920 commercial building packed with old display cases, broken shelving, and drywall from a remodel. The brick dust hung in the air, and every load-out had to clear a tight turn without blocking foot traffic near the shops. The owner needed the space cleared fast so the next crew could start framing, and one missed pickup would’ve stalled the whole job.
We dropped a heavy-duty dumpster right where the forklift could reach it, then our crew kept the path open with cone placement and quick hand-loading of the brittle pieces. We watched the weight carefully because old plaster and masonry add up fast, and we swapped in a fresh container before the pile got ahead of us. We do that on these downtown jobs because one delay ripples through the whole block. By the end, the contractor had a clean floor and the storefront stayed on schedule.
“They set the dumpster where it fit, kept the alley clear, and got us back on track.”
